National travel guide names the top 5 Columbus restaurants

Sav McKee

We’re not just a flyover city or football town anymore – Columbus is slowly becoming a culinary hotspot, and national travel guides are recognizing that, too.

All American Atlas, a national travel guide that often ranks the best places to eat and coolest things to do in large cities, called Columbus a “food lover’s paradise,” and listed out the top five best places to eat around town.

Here’s where they think you should make your reservations this weekend:

#5 Veritas – 11 W. Gay St.
Chef Josh Dalton’s modern yet fine dining concept focuses on seasonal ingredients and innovating tasting menus. All American Atlas suggests ordering going with the seasonal Tasting Menu plus the wine pairing!

#4 The Pearl – 641 N. High St., Columbus / 88 N. High St., Dublin
This quaint gastropub doesn’t serve your average burger and fries – you’ll find fresh oysters, smoked whitefish spread, shrimp & grits, plus so much more. All American Atlas recommends the Deviled Eggs, the Southern Fried Chicken, and the Great Lakes Fish & Chips.

A tried & true Columbus classic, this German Village exudes a timeless elegance that’s hard to beat. All American Atlas recommends starting with the Lobster Bisque, then ordering their famous Filet.

#2 Wolf’s Ridge Brewing – 215 N. 4th St.
Usually you wouldn’t turn to a brewery known for their craft beer for some of the best food in town, but that’s not the case at Wolf’s Ridge. The family-owned brewery and restaurant has garnered a loyal following for their incredible menu, rotated frequently based on seasonal produce.

#1 The Refectory – 1092 Bethel Rd.
Housed in a former church dating back to the 19th century, this French-inspired upscale restaurant is as charming as it is delicious. While they offer coursed tasting menus for both vegetarians and meat-eaters, All American Atlas highly recommends the Duck Breast, the Filet Mignon, and of course, a glass of the 600+ wines they have to offer.
