New chicken wing restaurant featuring home-made Carolina Reaper sauce just opened

There’s a new spot in town that specializes in some very spicy wings. “We’ve had one person make it through 4 of our Mz. Pain wings, which is the record so far,” Tammy Feasel laughed. “One person made it through half of a boneless wing before tapping out.”

Tammy and her husband Michael recently opened Mean Mug Wings & Things, located at 3780 West Broad St. All of their sauces are made in-house by her husband, who’ she says has always had a knack for creative concoctions. Wing flavors range from XXX Hot, with ingredients like Carolina Reaper and Trinidad Scorpions, all the way down to more mild Honey BBQ and Garlic Parmesan. Dry rubs are also available in flavors like Lemon Pepper and Nashville Hot.

If you’re not a fan of wings, the Feasels also make a mean burger along with their own batter for fried pickles, fried mushrooms, and onion rings, plus a variety of other bar fare. “We have a lot of popular sandwiches and burgers, but the wings are really taking off,” Tammy said.

Mean Mugs Wings & Things is located inside of an Amvets Post kitchen, taking over the spot where Shaker’s Public House moved in temporarily before relocating to their new space. “So far, it’s working out great. There’s big crowds on Saturday nights, and we’re now on Doordash,” Tammy explained. “And the Chicken Wings Connoisseurs of Columbus (a local Facebook group) has been bringing a ton of people in.”

You can order Mean Mug Wings and Things via phone (614- 556-6727) or Doordash, and soon, Grubhub and hopefully Uber Eats. You can also dine-in and grab a drink there to wash down that Carolina Reaper heat.

They’re open Mondays and Wednesdays from 11am-9pm, Tuesdays from 11am-4pm, Thursdays from 11am-10pm, and Fridays and Saturdays from 11am-11pm. Check out their Facebook for daily and weekly specials and a peek at their menu.
