Owner of popular Columbus sushi concepts launching new Short North eatery in former home of El Segundo
The owner of 1126 Sushi and Song Lan is bringing a new concept to the Short North.
According to general manager of Song Lan Barrackus Crawford, 698 Restaurant will open to the public on Oct. 18. It’s located at 698 N. High St., in the former home of El Segundo Mexican Kitchen.
Crawford, who will take over as manager of 698 restaurant when it opens, said the concept will be similar to 1126 Sushi and Song Lan as it will feature sushi, but the new concept will set itself apart with a handful of unique offerings.

“We’ll leaning more on hot foods items, with an Asian fusion menu that focuses more on Chinese cuisine,” he said, noting the eatery will also sell dim sum and soup dumplings.
Additionally, the new restaurant will also offer craft cocktails, bottled sake and even draft sake.
