On Oct. 4, Columbus City Attorney Zachary Klein and the Property Action Team secured a temporary restraining order to close the embattled MIA Hookah Bar, which is located at 2369 N. High St.

According to a press release from Klein’s office, the hookah bar has been the site of multiple violent incidents recently.

On May 18, three people were killed in a shooting in the area of the business. On May 24, the Columbus Police Department’s PACT Unit alongside the Ohio Investigative Unit cited the bar’s owners for four violations relating to illegal liquor possession and three relating to poor sanitary conditions.

On Sept. 27, MIA Hookah was the site of another shooting where four people were injured.

“Public safety is our top priority, so the moment we had the evidence to tie this business to the crime and violence in that area, we took action. Now, the hookah bar is shut down and this corner of Weinland Park is safer for residents and families,” said Columbus City Attorney Zach Klein in a press release.
