Popular bagel concept announces first brick and mortar storefront

After Charis and Lo Yost quickly established their burgeoning food concept, Bears Bagels, as a mainstay in the city’s food scene over the past year, Columbus has been wanting more.

And now we’re getting it, in the form of their first physical location.

Yesterday, Bears Bagels shared a statement that announced an IndieGoGo campaign which will help support a future storefront for the concept. The campaign will go live on Jan. 22, and will include “perks,” or benefits given to contributors as a thank-you for their support.

Currently, Bears Bagels has not shared an opening date nor a location of the their new store, but they did confirm one is coming.

The concept, which originally opened in offers what Charis Yost refers to as a hybrid between New York and Montreal-style bagels.

“Ours are sort of the best of both worlds, with a wonderful fluffy, chewy interior and hearty, blistered exterior,” he said. “And it’s something that Columbus hasn’t seen much of.”
