Canada-based ‘build-your-own-burrito’ concept opening first Ohio location in Cbus
There’s only one thing better than a good ol’ burrito: a burrito that you built yourself.
Well, okay, not entirely yourself, but one where you get to choose as many toppings as you want, and someone does the work of rolling it up for you. A popular concept where you can do exactly that is joining Columbus for the first time.
According to permits, the Canadian-based, fast-casual restaurant chain called Barrio Burrito Bar (which in Canada is called BarBurrito), will be joining us here at 3301 Morse Road.
The concept isn’t to be confused with the well known taco spots around here called Barrio. Barrio Burrito Bar will serve more as a “build-your-own-burrito” style restaurant, with the choice to load up tortillas or rice bowls with as many toppings as you’d like.
Their menu offers different options than what you’d find at other “build your own” Tex-Mex restaurants: crunchy fish, jerk chicken, bang bang shrimp are all featured (as well as popular protein choices like pulled pork and barbacoa), plus plenty of vegetarian options like falafel, ground veggies, and bean bases. Toppings include rice, black beans, pinto beans, cheese, fresh salsa, lettuce, tomatoes, cilantro, red onion, corn, pickled jalapeno, pickled onion, and guacamole, sour cream, plus 8 sauces to choose from. Sides range from fries, nachos, churros, and even wings at some locations.
A spokesperson for Barrio Burrito Bar confirmed the new location, but could not provide an opening date just yet. Stay tuned!
