Popular upscale steakhouse chain returning to Columbus after hiatus

Sav McKee

We have some exciting news for those who were bummed about a popular steakhouse leaving their only Columbus occasion about two years ago.

Smith & Wollesnky, the dining brand known as “American’s Steakhouse,” officially announced their return to Columbus. In 2022, they decided not to renew their 20 year lease at Easton town Center.

Instead, they’ll be making their way inside the first-floor space at the Hyatt Regency Columbus Hotel, at 350 N. High St., in a fully renovated dining room, complete with an expansive patio fronting High St.

“The brand led an exhaustive search for its new location and is thrilled to have found a home that truly has it all,” said Smith & Wollensky’s press release. “Downtown Columbus is experiencing a vibrant resurgence, and Smith & Wollensky is proud to be a cornerstone in this revival.”

This new Smith & Wollensky promises to be everything you loved about the luxury steakhouse, which first started in 1977. Their menu boasts USDA Prime dry-aged steaks sourced by partners at Double R Ranch and Snake River Farms, with each steak expertly hand butchered in-house, then char-broiled to the guests’ desired temperature. You’ll also find a variety of seafood, signature starts, sides, and desserts, plus of course craft cocktails and an extensive wine list, featuring global vintages.

Once construction begins, the company will share a clear timeline of expectations and opening plans, but for now, you can expect the new restaurant to open sometime in 2025.
