Re-opening announced for Columbus ice cream spot that closed after car crashed into it

After a car crash into the side of the RIta’s Italian Ice & Custard location on the city’s Northwest Side temporarily shuttered the popular dessert spot, it has now officially reopened to the public.

According to a social media post from late last week, Rita’s reopened on Nov. 6.

The eatery is located at 2116 Henderson Rd.

On Sept. 16, the Northwest Side Rita’s was struck by a vehicle, and the location remained closed until last week. Shortly after the incident, Rita’s posted a photo showing considerable damage to one of the walls of the building, and posted a note about their temporary closure to its social media pages, noting they were “beyond saddened” at the incident.

Rita’s operates four central Ohio locations, with other stores in Gahanna, Hilliard and Westerville.
