The best diner in Ohio is inside of this vintage train, according to national publication
All aboard the Buckeye Express, which was recently named the best diner in Ohio!
While the Ohio State Buckeyes-themed train won’t directly transport you to an OSU football game, you can enjoy some classic burgers and other homemade diner food, like Lake Erie Perch sandwiches and Brutus Philly Beef Cheesesteaks, all while in a repurposed, vintage steam engine, parked right on the tracks.

According to Lovefood, a national food guide that often ranks the best restaurants in each state based on reviews and person experience, The Buckeye Express Diner is the best diner in the state, not only for the unique location, but also for their home-cooked fare. “You don’t need a ticket to board the Buckeye Express, but you should probably pack a decent appetite. This family-owned diner, inside a vintage steam engine diner car, is known for home-cooked classics and hearty burgers. People love the novelty of dining onboard, with the skinny interior displaying Ohio State Buckeyes football posters and memorabilia. There’s a cute outdoor space, too,” they said.
The Buckeye Express diner is kid friendly, with families making the less than one hour drive from Columbus to Bellville all of the time to visit and order the “Caboose Baskets” (kids meals). It’s located at 810 State Route 97 W., right off I-71 in Bellville, OH, and it’s open every day from 11am-7:30 p.m.
