These are the absolute best fried chicken sandwiches in Cbus, says 614 feast
Craving comfort food? A fried chicken sandwich always hits the spot with its crispy, delicious chicken, soft bun, and your choice of toppings and sauces. Whether you prefer it spicy or classic, with mayo and pickles or something more indulgent like cheese or bacon, this sandwich never disappoints. Here are five of my favorite fried chicken sandwiches in Columbus:
Katalina’s (Multiple Locations)
Southern Fried Buttermilk-Brined Chicken Sammy features a buttermilk-brined, Shagbark crushed corn-chip coated Gerber chicken breast, spiced with North Market Spices’ Nashville Hot Chicken Spice, and served on ciabatta with tomato, Cooper’s Mill Peach-Habañero Jam, and fresh corn and cabbage slaw.
Goood Friends (171 N.4th St.)
Located inside Jackie O’s On Fourth, Goood Friends offers their Ol’ Faithful spicy chicken sandwich. Crispy, juicy, subtly spicy, and well-seasoned chicken, le délice de bourgogne, classy sauce, spicy bread & butter pickles, and a drizzle of hot honey, all served on a roll.
The Eagle Short North (790 N. High St.)
The Fried Chicken BLT is a standout. It’s made with a crispy, juicy fried chicken breast, bacon, mixed greens, tomato, avocado relish, and jalapeño honey mayo, all served on rustic Italian bread. The secret to the chicken’s juiciness? It’s house-brined and dredged. Pro tip: add spicy honey on top to take this sandwich to the next level.
Matt and Tony’s Kitchen x Tavern (340 E. Gay St.)
This Spicy Chicken Sandwich is a must-try. A chicken breast marinated in buttermilk, hand-breaded, and fried to golden brown perfection, topped with cheddar cheese, tomatoes (I order mine without), and a jalapeño sauce, all served on a butter-toasted bun.
The Crispy Coop (Multiple)
The Fried Chicken Sandwich features crispy, juicy chicken topped with pickles and slaw—the slaw is the real x-factor. They offer a variety of flavors: Traditional, Tennessee Mild, Nashville Hot, and Ohio Hot Honey. All options are worth trying, but I usually order the Tennessee Mild for its perfect balance of spice and flavor.
Have you tried all five of these fried chicken sandwiches? And if we missed your favorite spot, let us know—where we should flock to next. If you’re thinking of suggesting fast food like Popeyes or Chick-fil-A, just know that I’m team Shake Shack.
