Former Scioto County teacher sentenced to prison following sexual abuse of minor student
A former Scioto County teacher who pleaded guilty to sexually abusing a minor student on Oct. 23 has learned her sentence.
According to a press release from Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost, former Bloom-Vernon Local School District teacher Caroline Johnson, 36, was sentenced to serve one year in Ohio prison on Dec. 12.
Once released, she will have to register as a Tier III sex offender for the remainder of her life.

“There’s one last lesson to be learned from this former teacher – students are not targets for sexual relationships,” Yost said in a press release. “She destroyed her career, family and reputation for the thrill of an affair, without bothering to think about the consequences.”
Johnson served as a coach and intervention specialist at Bloom-Vernon Local School District.
