National retail & discount grocery store closing another Columbus location

Last March, a national corporation announced they would be closing about 600 stores nationwide in 2024, with about 370 more as their leases continue to expire. 

Family Dollar and The Dollar Tree corporation has already closed four locations in Columbus months ago (2372 Cleveland Ave., 3577 E. Livingston Ave., 675 E. Hudson St., and 2191 E. 5th Ave.), but another Family Dollar has announced they’re closing this month as well.

The Family Dollar near German Village/Schumacher Place, located at 865 Parsons Ave., has a sign posted to the building that they’ll be closing soon. Employees told 614Now that October 19 will be their last day open. 

Family Dollar corporate could not be reached for comment to provide details on exactly why this location is closing.

Many people in the neighborhood rely on this Family Dollar for essential and affordable grocery, retail, toiletry, and hygiene items.
