Ohio airport named the worst in the U.S. in past study, but has since improved
While most people might have their favorite airport, a majority of people definitely have their least favorite airport (anyone else creeped out by the murals in Denver’s airport?!).
Turns out though, one of my favorite airports has been considered the absolute worst in the U.S., according to data collected by Upgrade Points.
John Glenn International Airport here in Columbus ranked the lowest quality airport in the nation in a 2023 story from Upgrade Points, with unsatisfied travelers complaining about the limited dining selections, security wait times, poor on-time performance, and no lounge access.

“The only saving grace appears to be unlimited Wi-Fi,” says Upgrade Points.
Personally, I’ve never had a long wait time at CMH, and I find it simple and accessible. That being said, I always eat before-hand, because the dining options are definitely…limited.
In order to compile this data, Upgrade Points used studies by J.D. Power from 2017, U.S. Department of Transportation’s Bureau of Transportation, Uber Fares, Priority Pass, and much more.
That being said, in the most recent study by J.D. Power, CMH has been considered one of the best “Medium-Sized Airports,” in 2024, which shows that sometimes, it’s all relative.
