OSU athlete shot in near-campus shooting 

Ohio State University announced that on early Sunday morning, one of their athletes was an innocent bystander and victim of an off-campus shooting.

Nathan Demian on the men’s soccer team was struck by a stray bullet vehicle just before 2:30AM, while walking down the 200th block of Chittenden. Two vehicles were chasing each other down the street.

Demian suffered from the gunshot wound and was taken to the hospital in serious condition, but is recovering from his injuries. Just hours before he was shot, Demian was playing a game against Wake Forest at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium. He’s started 14 games for the Buckeyes. 

Ohio State University announced that in no way was Demian involved in the vehicles chasing and shooting at each other. “He is an innocent bystander, is not a suspect in any way, and was not involved in any altercation,” said Ohio State University in a statement. “The soccer program is thankful for the incredible university support and medical care available to Nathan and his family during this difficult time…”

Because this is an ongoing investigation, OSU will not be able to discuss the incident further.
