This Columbus Instagram account is giving away cash–if you can find it hidden throughout the city

Jack McLaughlin

Money may not grow on trees, but if you get lucky, you can find stacks of cash hidden throughout the city with no strings attached.

Columbus Cash Hunt is an Instagram page that–quite literally–hides cash (typically further obfuscated by a piece of black duct tape) throughout the city, opting for locations like the back of the Sawmill Road Kroger, or behind a sign at Battelle Darby Creek Metro Park. They first started the Instagram account on August 16.

The catch? You have to be the first one to find it, and when it’s gone, it’s gone.

Currently, the page does at least three cash drops every week, sometimes more. Viewers will often receive specific visual clues about where money is hidden, such as a video showing $50 taped to a pole outside of Blaze Pizza. Other times, just the name of the store and a quick shot of the facade will be all you get.

The owners of Columbus Cash Hunt couldn’t be reached for comment, and it’s currently unclear who’s behind the account, which currently has nearly 30,000 Instagram followers. But that shouldn’t stop you from searching for some money yourself.
