Two different Columbus landmarks damaged in separate car accidents in past 24 hours

Another day in Columbus, another business ran into (two in the past 24 hours, actually).

Yesterday, the Pataskala Police Department confirmed that someone collided with the iconic “EASTON” sign that greets Easton Mall customers during a police chase. Parts of the sign are now broken, along with the adjacent brick. Pataskala PD is unable to provide additional details at this time.

Then, Fox in the Snow Cafe, located at 1031 N. 4th St., was crashed into early this morning as well. A witness said the car was driving down 4th St., spun, and then turned into the glass garage doors that the Italian Village coffee shop is so well known for.

Another witness, Brent Deems, posted on his Instagram that he was sitting down for a pour over coffee and a pastry “when all of a sudden, I’m across the room. A car had lost control and smacked right into the restaurant…exactly where I was seated.” He said that if the car had been 2 feet over to its right, “we’d be having a very different Monday morning…very thankful.”

Along with the broken door, two concrete beams were also damaged, and Fox in the Snow is closed for the day. Fox could not be reached for comment about a future closure at this time, but we’ll update this story with more information.
