According to decades worth of weather data, today is predicted to the “most miserable day of the year” in Ohio
While it’s warmer than the single-digit morning we faced yesterday, according to a new study from Deye, today is statistically most likely to be the “gloomiest” and “most miserable” day of 2025.
The study looked back at 30 years’ worth of publicly-available weather data to figure out which day is most likely to be the “most miserable” of the year for each state.
For Ohio, that day is today.

Deye used several metrics to predict which day day is statistically most likely to be the gloomiest, including the predicted coldest day of the year each and the predicted cloudiest day of the year.
The dates when these days have historically occurred was averaged to predict The Buckeye State’s “most miserable day.” Have a happy miserable day, Ohio!
