Historic Short North diner reopening this week

Goody Boy, the iconic diner that has served the Short North for nearly 75 years, is set to reopen on March 17.

The longstanding Columbus restaurant is located at 1144 N. High St. in the Short North.

First opened in 1947, Goody Boy has been owned by One Hospitality Group (formerly Corso Ventures) since 2019. The diner recently closed for renovations, and it will be ready to show these off.

“We wanted to create a community-focused, easy-going venue that is approachable to all residents and visitors of the Short North,” said Justin Kintz, Executive Director of Marketing at One Hospitality in a press release. “Goody Boy of all places in the Short North, should reflect the community that inhabits and frequents the neighborhood. I want to see Goody Boy return to the local hang out it once was, but above all I want to create an environment that is welcoming and comfortable for every individual who comes through our door.”

Boasting what One Hospitality Group calls “one of the most expansive patios in the Short North,” Goody Boy will also offer new dining space for outdoor patrons, in addition to a walk-up window for carryout orders.
