Nine charges, including felony, for man tased at Columbus Zoo last week
Joesph Solinger of Pataskala has been formally charged following an incident that led to him being tased and arrested outside of the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium on April 15.
Solinger, who was driving a Jeep, initially sped by an officer who was directing traffic after an accident on State Route 750, disobeying the officer’s orders in the process.
He ran out of his car, was chased through a Columbus Zoo parking lot, and was eventually tased and arrested by Shawnee Hills police.

Solinger was formally charged on Monday.
The Pataskala man is facing nine charges in total, they include:
- Driving while under the influence (misdemeanor)
- Failure to comply with order or signal of a police officer (felony)
- Inducing panic (misdemeanor)
- Misconduct at an emergency (misdemeanor)
- Marked lanes violation (misdemeanor)
- Reckless operation (misdemeanor)
- Resisting arrest (misdemeanor)
- Obstructing official business (misdemeanor)
- Disobeying traffic control devices (misdemeanor)
While failure to comply is most often a first-degree misdemeanor, it can become a felony if operation of the motor vehicle by the offender caused a risk of serious physical harm to people or property.
