Bike rider who was attacked by pack of dogs recovering in Columbus hospital
A 64 year-old woman was flown to Columbus to receive emergency medical treatment after being attacked by dogs in Vinton County, Police said.
According to a press release from the Vinton County Sheriff’s Office, the woman was staying in a cabin in the area of Lake Hope State Park last weekend. On Oct. 29, while on a bike ride, she rode past a residence where three pit bull mix canines noticed her and began attacking her as she was riding by the residence.
Several witnesses shielded the victim with their car, which eventually caused the dogs to flee.

The victim was then transported to Hocking Valley Community Hospital, and was later flown to a hospital in Columbus for further treatment.
According to the press release, the owner of the dogs was identified and is cooperating with authorities. The incident is still under investigation, and was sent to the Vinton County Prosecutor’s Office for possible criminal charges.
