Ben Stiller’s new movie shot & set in this charming Ohio city
What were Ben Stiller and Linda Cardellini doing in the small, charming town of Wilmington, OH for months?
Shooting their new movie, actually!
Nutcrackers, the new comedy showcasing the challenges (and joys) of family dynamics around the holidays, was filmed on the Janson Family Farm, about an hour away from Columbus. Other Wilmington spots highlighted in the movie include a local dance studio and the historic Murphy Theater. The four child actors in the phone actually grew up on the family farm where much of the movie was filmed.

“Bringing a movie star to this small town in Ohio was exciting,” said Director David Gordon Green in a press statement. “Ben became a true inspiration and a role model for all of us as he rolled up his sleeves with a cast of mostly non-actors. … Smiles burnt into the face of our small crew as the chemistry of the kids facing off with a Hollywood icon came to life.”
The movie premiers on Hulu on November 29. Other major actors featured in the film include Edi Patterson, Tim Heidecker, and Toby Huss.
“Thanks everyone in Wilmington for being so kind and generous. Loved filming here!” Ben Stiller said in a statement on X.
