Lawmakers pushing to make Taylor Swift Day official state holiday; Local restaurants already getting behind it

When you think Tim McGraw, I hope you think of an official holiday in the state of Ohio, because there’s a chance July 1 turns into Taylor Swift Day in the Buckeye State.

A pair of bipartisan state lawmakers—Ohio House members Dani Isaacsohn (Democrat-Cincinnati) and Cindy Abrams (Republican-Harrison) began attempting to elicit support from other Ohio lawmakers to make July 1 an official state holiday known as Taylor Swift Day.

According to a report from News 5 Cleveland, the duo penned requests for other politicians to co-sponsor the resolution that were laden with Taylor Swift lyrics.

“As we know all too well, Taylor Swift is currently on one of the most successful concert tours in music history. And she’s coming to Ohio! We hope there is no Bad Blood, but she is specifically coming to the Queen City for two nights June 30 and July 1,” the bipartisan duo wrote, according to News 5.

While it remains to be seen if other lawmakers will support the creation of Taylor Swift Day, at least one Columbus business has already capitalized on the news as well. The Cheesecake Girl announced this morning the release of the Eras Tour Cheesecake Box, which contains 16 mini cheesecakes, all of which are named after Taylor Swift songs.
