Restaurant chain backed by Browns QB coming to Ohio
A cheesesteak spot backed by controversial Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson is opening in Ohio.
According to a press release, Lefty’s Cheesesteaks will open its first Ohio location on April 4. This storefront, which Watson is described as an “equity owner” in, will be located in Cleveland, although it appears Lefty’s is planning more locations in the Buckeye State.
The first Ohio Lefty’s Cheesesteaks will be located at 2115 S. Taylor Rd. in University Heights. It will be the “first of many” in Ohio, according to a press release. It’s currently unclear if Columbus locations are planned, and what involvement, if any, Watson would have with them.

“I’m extremely excited and so is Deshaun for us to expand into the backyard of where the company was founded in the state of Michigan.” Founder and CEO Sam Berry said in a press release. “And it makes great sense seeing as we’re expanding the correct way with market research and logistics with our food supply vendor Miceli and Oldfield as our partners in this business venture.”
Following a collegiate career at Clemson, Watson was originally drafted by the Houston Texans. Several years later, 26 women came forward alleging Watson of sexual misconduct. Nearly all of the civil suits filed against him have been settled for an undisclosed amount and, and following an 11-game suspension imposed by the NFL, Watson was traded to the Cleveland Browns.
