Multiple Columbus eateries introduce new treats inspired by viral Dubai Chocolate Bar

You’ve probably seen it, right?

If you’ve been on TikTok, Instagram, or any social media in the past three months, there’s a fair chance you’ve come across the viral Dubai chocolate bar.

While the chocolate itself is fairly similar to a traditional bar, it’s the creamy, green inside that’s grabbing attention. Kunafa (also referred to as Knafeh) is a crunchy, buttery dessert, and when mixed with pistachio it creates a flavor that’s taking the internet by storm.

But, don’t worry, your own taste of the viral treat is closer than you think.

Rose Dough Donuts has created their own pastry inspired by the Dubai chocolate. Featuring dark chocolate ganache drizzle, a pistachio glaze, shredded phyllo and roasted pistachios – this items packages the viral flavors in a donut-sized package.

“I wanted to do this trend because I liked the flavors and I’d never seen anything like it before, “ Katie Passo, owner of Rose Dough Donuts, explained. “I thought about filling our cruller with the Pistachio-Phyllo mixture like in the chocolate bar, but I thought that would make the toasted phyllo too soggy – so we’re adding it to the top for some crunch!”

Exclusive pre-order for the donuts are available, with pickup taking place July 20.

Sugar Rush Columbus is also following the trend. Recreating the international treat with their own flare, Sugar Rush combined milk chocolate, roasted pistachios, kataifi, pistachio cream and a hint of tahini for their version of the viral bar.

Their chocolate bars are also available for pre-order on their website with pickup taking place July 24 – 27.

Sugar Rush has also transformed the flavors of the viral bar into a decadent chocolate cake, which you can grab in-store only.

While both of these Columbus bakeries are introducing this international trend on a local level in their own ways – there are several bakeries that offer the traditional Dubai Chocolate bar as it comes.

Locations such as Royal Roastery, Columbus Knafe and Al Aqsa Sweets are just some that have the sweet treat available for purchase in–store and on their websites.
