New York-style pizza with a twist is coming to the former home of Mama Nancy’s
When Mama Nancy’s, a Chicago-style deep dish pizza shop, closed its doors late last year, it left a vacancy that a unique new spot in Columbus is now filling.
East Pizzeria, the only Kosher pizza restaurant in Columbus (according to Buckeye Kosher), is currently in its soft opening phase.
Given that Kosher food cannot combine meat and dairy, the team worked hard to develop a pizza recipe that stands out without the use of toppings like pepperoni and sausage.

“We wanted to create something that would stand on its own and that people would enjoy, whether they keep kosher or not,” said owner Gil Harary.
Located at 3495 E. Broad Street, the name is a nod to its East Side location, and the pizza reflects a blend of New York style with Middle Eastern flavors.
“[The name] is East because we’re on East Broad Street, but the pizza is more of a New York style with Middle Eastern seasoning and cuisine,” he said.
Currently, East Pizzeria only offers pizza (its white sauce pies are especially popular), but they plan to expand their menu in the near future. Stay tuned for an official opening date.
