Tom + Chee: Bring on the cheese
Tom + Chee didn’t waste too much time opening near Ohio State’s campus. Pera was out, and Tom + Chee are now in and are set to open Friday. After the abrupt closing of Gooeyz in the south campus Gateway Tom + Chee could fill the cheese-less void that it left, because really is there ever not a market for grilled cheese at college?

Upscale burgers replaced with upscale pizza
Last week it was announced that Red Robin’s Burger Works on High Street near Ohio State would be closing its doors. Those upscale burgers though will be replaced by upscale pizza. Blaze Fast-Fire’d Pizza is set to open in the space in January. The chain features a Chipotle-style build your own concept (everyone wants a piece of that Chipotle profit) and customers can choose each ingredient on their pizza which will then be cooked over a fire, as the name suggests.

Tom + Chee take Ohio State
Two doors are closing on High Street off Ohio State’s campus, and Tom + Chee are moving in. The grilled cheese restaurant is taking over the space that used to hold Pera Fresh Istanbul Food. Pera though didn’t technically close, but sold their business to Tom + Chee, according to the Lantern. Red Robin’s Burger Works off High Street is also closing shop. “Columbus, Ohio — being known as the test market, particularly the university area — (Burger Works) tried it, and they didn’t like the results, so they moved on. You know, if somebody can’t make money on High Street at Ohio State University, they ain’t going to make money anywhere because it’s just so dense a population,” property owner Scott Schiff said, the Lantern reported. He has already released the space.
