OSU Student gains Internet fame following hate crime
From the bottom of my heart, thank you for showing me, and the rest of the world, that love > hate #LoveIsLouder pic.twitter.com/JiwTzWXnMq

Cole Ledford, a third year at Ohio State, was walking hand-in-hand with his boyfriend on High Street while walking to their homes. On the way, they were called “fags” by a group of men, but the two didn’t give it much thought, joked it off and split to head to their homes after kissing goodbye. Ledford was then approached by what he describes as a male in his 20s and was punched in the face after being called a name. He went home, called his boyfriend Jerad Williams and told him what had happened. Rather than explaining the incident over and over again he posted this note on Twitter:
To the guy who punched me tonight for kissing my boyfriend pic.twitter.com/SMVmTpDCdL

What was intended mostly for friends spun into a media whirlwind and was found, tweeted and retweeted thousands of times. Celebrities along with international outlets began contacting him about the incident.
