Kintsugi Sushi Bar opens at North Market Bridge Park
Fans of Satori Ramen Bar in North Market Downtown, get excited.
Husband-and-wife team Seigo Nishimura and Casey Cooper-Fenske have launched a sister restaurant Kintsugi Sushi Bar at North Market Bridge Park, and the grand opening is today, Jan. 8.
Although Kintsugi is the first sushi venture for the couple, it’s an area that they know quite well.
“Born and raised in Tokyo, food has always been a central theme in Seigo’s life,” Cooper-Fenske said. “He trained at the Tokyo Sushi Academy and worked at a Michelin-starred sushi restaurant in New York City’s East Village prior to moving back to Ohio.”

Kintsugi’s signature item is hand rolls, something that Cooper-Fenske said isn’t seen much in the Midwest.
“They are cone-shaped and come with our house-made soy sauce gelee, making it a perfect option for a main course or grab-and-go snack,” she said.
The item comes in either a nori seaweed wrapper or a soy wrapper.
Sushi lovers will find familiar favorites on the menu as well, such as spicy tuna rolls, California rolls, and ice cream cone-shaped hand rolls. The outfit also developed its sushi rice to remain soft and fresh after refrigerating for a day. (Bring on the leftovers.)
The couple is excited to finally open Kintsugi, Cooper-Fenske said.
“After months of planning and continuous uncertainty during the COVID-19 pandemic, it is our loyal customers at Satori Ramen Bar and the support of the North Market that make us confident enough to start this new venture in such unprecedented times full of uncertainty,” she said.
Kintsugi Sushi Bar will be open 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursdays through Saturdays, and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sundays.
