New beer garden on tap for Hilliard

Residents on Columbus’ west side are set to get another option for outdoor dining.

HillGarten, a seasonal restaurant with German-leaning fare, beer, wine, and spirits, is planned for 4131 Main St., according to Hilliard city documents.

Owner Sandy Nowak said she hopes to open HillGarten by Memorial Day. The restaurant will operate from 11 a.m. to close daily, she said.

According to city documents, the space will have outdoor-only dining from May 1 through Nov. 1. Picnic and garden tables are planned for the outdoor space, to accommodate as many as 85 people.

Hilliard Planning Manager David Myerholtz said the city’s Planning and Zoning Commission on Oct. 8 approved the application for the outdoor biergarten. He said the 560-square-foot kitchen will have a walk-up bar, and the remainder of the lot will be for outdoor seating and landscaping.
