The Wildflower Cafe is closing
After more than 20 years, McCarthy’s Wildflower Cafe & Catering, more commonly known as The Wildflower Cafe, is calling it quits.
The longtime Clintonville eatery, located at 3420 Indianola Ave., announced the closure last night on social media. They will officially close at the end of this week.
“It has been an impossibly difficult decision to make. Even with the incredible support of the community, the last few years have been deeply challenging not only financially and logistically, but also emotionally. We are simply exhausted,” a statement from The Wildflower Cafe reads. “Thank you to everyone who supported us over the past 22 years, and to our beautiful neighborhood of Clintonville for making us feel so welcomed and loved. We are so proud to have served you.”

The popular spot, which opened in 1999, was known for its eclectic menu, which features a variety of offerings for breakfast, lunch and dinner, as well as its classic, approachable dining room, highlighted by iconic black and white checkered floor tiles.
“For us the Wildflower has always been an incredibly special, beautiful, and wonderfully strange place. We have come to know and love so many of you as friends and family. Thank you for sharing your lives with us. You made the Wildflower so much more than a restaurant. We will miss you all dearly,” the cafe said in a statement.
