Jon Waters returned to the Ohio Stadium once more Saturday during the game against Kent State. He wasn’t directing though, he was marching with the alumni band. As he played “Carmen Ohio,” tears ran down his face during pregame. Many alumni members donned shirts with his initials as they marched alongside him, and throughout the game supporters came up to hug the former band director who was fired after a university investigation that found a “sexualized culture” within the marching band. “To see all those people that I love, the students, the alums, and buckeye nation. It is going to be a terribly emotional day for me,” Waters said according to NBC4.
