Ohio State is pairing with Babcock & Wilcox research team to explore the idea of a clean coal power plant, according to Crain’s Cleveland Business. With the aid of a $2.5 million federal grant, the groups are collaborating to design a greener power plant. The plant would still utilize coal, but would trap the carbon dioxide emitted while also still draining all the energy from the coal. The initial design for the full-fledged plant would produce about 550 megawatts of electricity, without the harmful side effects generally associated with coal.
