Holy schnitzel! Man v. Food episode to feature local German gem

A German gem in the Columbus culinary scene will be getting exposed by a national spotlight this week.

Valter’s at the Maennerchor will be one of three local restaurants featured on Cooking Channel’s Man v. Food Tuesday. Valter’s is best known for its traditional German fare that compliments the Columbus Männerchor, the nation’s largest and longest continually active German singing society and social club. The two share a space at 976 S. High St. in German Village.

Columbus Business First reports the episode will highlight three of Valter’s dishes: a pork shank, weinerschnitzel, and the restaurant’s Rhine Trio of sausages.

Valter’s is hosting a watch party Tuesday night starting at 8:00 PM with beer specials and a performance from the Columbus Maennerchor.

The other two Columbus restaurants on the episode have not yet been revealed, though teasers reference a bacon-wrapped hot dog and a footlong chicken burrito.

The Columbus episode will air at 10 p.m. this Tuesday, Aug. 13. Click here to read more about the episode.
