Dr. Amy Acton is done working for the state of Ohio. For now.

After resigning from her position as Director of the Ohio Department of Health on June 11, Gov. Mike DeWine announced in his COVID-19 update on Tuesday that Dr. Acton would be stepping down as his chief advisor on health issues.

Dr. Acton will be rejoining the Columbus Foundation as Director of Kind Columbus, effective Sept. 1. Kind Columbus is an initiative that is dedicated to spreading the words and actions of kindness as a defining value for our region.

The Columbus Foundation announced this in a press release today.

“Amy is one of the most empathetic, caring people you could ever meet, and that became clear to people throughout Ohio during the early months of the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Douglas F. Kridler, President and CEO of The Columbus Foundation. “She is ideally suited for this work, and for our aspirations for it.”
