Historic Cherry Street Pub acquired by Barrel & Boar

Historic Cherry Street Pub acquired by Barrel & Boar

The historic Cherry Street Pub in Lanchester has a brand new owner.

The restaurant, located at 202 N. Cherry St., was acquired on Sept. 1 by the managing partners of Barrel & Boar BBQ Gastropub, Stan and Cristi Riley.

According to Stan Riley, even though the eatery—a local favorite—is under new ownership, customers can still anticipate the same great food and atmosphere. They can actually expect just about everything—from its iconic green exterior to the range of burgers and specialty mac and cheese offerings on its menu— to stay the same.

“We changed nothing,” Riley said. “Cherry Street Pub is an institution in that community. We’re excited to have another brand, but this is not becoming another Barrel & Boar.”

Even better for the Lancaster restaurant’s patrons, its new ownership has plans to rotate old menu items requested by customers back into the fold. The pub’s brunch menu is first on that list, and should be reintroduced soon.

“The menu is actually smaller than what it once was, and that’s because of COVID,” Riley said. “So we’ll slowly be bringing back some of the old favorites that have been removed.”

And while Riley stated he was pleased to add Cherry Street Pub to the list of brands overseen by Barrel & Boar, he’s even more excited about the quality and reputation his newest acquisition holds.

“I really enjoy restaurants that are part of the fabric of the community, and that’s exactly what Cherry Street Pub is,” he said. “It’s a great restaurant with a fantastic location and staff. I couldn’t be more humbled to be a part of it going forward.”
