Moroccan street food eatery opening east side brick and mortar

You can add another intriguing new name to the already-bustling Columbus street food scene.

The Taste of Greece & Moroccan Food Truck will be opening a permanent storefront at the East Market, the massive marketplace and bar inside the east side’s historic Trolley District development, when it opens later this year. The East Market will be located at 212 Kelton Ave.

According to owner Hichan Ouhammou, his eatery won’t be the only one of its kind inside East Market, he believes it’s unique to the City of Columbus as well.

“Nobody else is doing what I’m doing; nobody else is doing Authentic Moroccan street food like this,” he said.

Ouhammou’s menu features both a Greek section—highlighted by a variety of popular gyros and open-faced pita dishes with lamb and chicken—as well as a Moroccan section. The latter is filled with traditional beef couscous dishes, kufta kabbab, a Moroccan Burger, and even fried Brussels sprouts topped with parmesan cheese and cilantro.

And to wash it all down, diners can opt for fresh-made Moroccan juices like banana, strawberry, and almond avocado. All of Ouhammou’s juice options add a touch of milk and sugar for added body and flavor.

The Taste of Greece & Morocco Food Truck will cease operations (in fact, it has already been sold) while Ouhammou transitions to his new East Market home.

“We’re excited to meet new people, serve new people,” he said. “We’re ready to rock and roll.”
