New bubble tea spot will feature drinks and adoptable cats

Bubble tea and cats? Sounds like a purrfect match to us.

Owner Ivy Hou said she plans to open Kitty Bubble Cafe & Bar either at the end of this year or early next. The cafe will occupy 5566 and 5568 N. High St.

Hou said she was inspired to open a combination cafe-adoption spot after volunteering with rescue organization Colony Cats (& dogs)

“When you get there, you just want to take every cat home,” she said.

Hou adopted two cats from Colony (she has a total of three cats now, and one dog), but she wanted to do more. Knowing the popularity of cat cafes on the east and west coasts, she looked into visiting ones closer to home (in Kentucky and Cleveland). The model, she figured, would be a good way to help increase adoption rates.

Hou said she plans to set up her space with the cafe on one side, and a space for the cats on the other. She’ll feature adoptable cats from Colony Cats, and all adoption fees will go back to the organization. The cafe will feature bubble tea, coffee, beer, and wine. The alcoholic beverage menu will be cat inspired.

Who else is ready for this cafe to open right meow?
