New Mexican restaurant featuring empanadas, tostadas now open on Northeast Side

Jack McLaughlin

Diners in northeastern Columbus have a new option for Mexican fare.

That’s because Catrina Mexican Cuisine, located at 2785 Ferris Rd., is officially open for business. The eatery is open from 11 a.m. until 10 p.m. Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. until 11 p.m. on Saturday and from 10 a.m. until 10 p.m. on Sunday.

The new restaurant, housed inside a large, corrugated-metal building at the corner of Westerville Road and Ferris Road, boasts a single-room interior. This means food preparation takes place directly in front of diners seated at the eatery’s bar.

Catrina Mexican Cuisine offers tostadas, empanadas, carne asada, enchiladas, and more. Diners can even enjoy a variety of spicy wings as an appetizer or flan for dessert.

If you’re making the trip up to the new restaurant, make sure to bring cash, as Catrina only accepts paper and CashApp payments.
