Popular pizzeria partnering with Blackbird Kitchen to offer new birria pizza

Birria tacos are all the rage currently. This means Mikey’s Late Night Slice wasted little time making a pizza out of the dish.

Known as Blackbird Birria, the new collaboration item was introduced on Nov. 1 and will only be available until Nov. 7, meaning you’ll have to act fast if you want to try it.

The item’s name is a reference to Blackbird Kitchen, the Columbus eatery operating out of Woodlands Tavern that is well-known for a number of dishes, including its ever-popular birria tacos.

The pizza combines Mikey’s classic red sauce with Blackbird Kitchen’s hot sauce as a base, before adding pizza cheese and garnishing with pickled onions, roasted jalapeño crema, and cilantro. The pie, just like the birria tacos it’s named after, is also served with a side of consomé for dipping. 

Mikey’s has a penchant for releasing pizza with interesting or unusual ingredients, such as their annual Thanksgiving dinner-themed pizza, The Gobbler, and their rainbow-colored mac and cheese pizza.
