Metro Parks’ Winter Hike Series might be your new favorite family-friendly (and free) winter weekend excursion
Columbus and Franklin County Metro Parks’ Annual Winter Hikes series is celebrating irs 50th year, which means you and the kids definitely don’t want to miss out.
Not only are cold-weather hikes a unique way to take in the great outdoors, Columbus and Franklin County Metro Parks makes doing this a whole lot more kid-friendly during over the next few months.
While there’s not a lot left of December, you can still catch a Twinkling Lights hikes—offered through the end of the month—at Battelle Darby Creek, Blacklick Woods, Highbanks, Homestead and Inniswood Metro Parks.

And there’s more to come in January and February as well.
On Saturdays from Jan. 7-Feb. 18, Metro Parks will offer hot chocolate and other refreshments at a variety of Metro Parks. You can find the full list here.
What’s more, the little ones will be able to gather wooden ornaments hidden throughout highlighted trails over that time, make things even more interactive for younger participants.
