Joya’s Cafe has arrived. For the most part.

After quietly welcoming guests for dine-in test runs on several occasions recently, the anticipated new concept from former “Top Chef” contestant and Service Bar alum Avishar Barua has launched its soft opening, Barua told 614now.

Located at 657 High St. in Worthington, the former home of Sassafras Bakery, the eatery is billed as a travel-inspired daytime cafe that will feature both classic dishes and those inspired by Barua’s travels and his Bengali-American roots.

According to Barua, Joya’s full menu isn’t available just yet, but diners can still grab a handful of exciting new dishes for breakfast and lunch, like a new breakfast sandwich featuring soft scrambled eggs, peppered and maple-glazed bacon, jalapeno American cheese and chives all served on a “painstakingly freshly baked” poppy bun and topped with Joya’s special sauce.

“The reception has been amazingly overwhelming thus far, so we want to do our best without dying in the process,” Barua said with a laugh.

Joya’s is currently open Wednesday through Saturday, from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m.
