Craft brewery opens new taproom and beer garden inside former Crafted Culture space

Just over one month after Crafted Culture parted ways with its first-ever brick and mortar location, another Columbus-area craft brewery has opened for business within the space.

Heart State Brewing, a fast-growing brewery also located in Gahanna, converted the building at 505 Morrison Rd. into a new taproom and beer garden.

“It was completely turnkey, that’s how we were able to move in so quickly,” Heart State owner Max Smith said. “There was no demo work on our end just, just a little cleaning and rebranding.”

The brewery held a grand opening event for the new location on March 25.

Heart State first opened at 750 Cross Point Rd. last year. Shortly after, the brewery used a section of this building, a warehouse production facility, as a taproom. According to Smith, the brewery will retain the Cross Point Road location as a dedicated brewing space.

“The old taproom was located in just a corner of our warehouse essentially,” Smith said. “The new location just has a lot more polish; it should be a lot of fun for our customers.”

The new Morrison Road space, which Crafted Culture left in late February after holding its own grand opening in early 2021, will offer a full bar with expanded seating and even a large outdoor beer garden. Smith said an old shipping container in the beer garden will likely also be converted into a bar for the outdoor space.
