Longstanding Central Ohio barbecue restaurant announces indefinite closure

Johnstown’s Route 62 BBQ has been serving its own brand of pulled pork, beef brisket and more to Central Ohians for the last 15 years, but the longstanding eatery announced yesterday that it has called it quits, at least for now.

Route 62 BBQ has officially closed its doors, and the eatery has not named a reopening date, according to a statement posted to its facebook page yesterday.

The restaurant is located at 580 W. Coshocton St. in Johnstown.

“Due to extreme protein costs and unprecedented inflation Route 62 BBQ will be closing until further notice,” a statement posted to Route 62 BBQ’s Facebook page reads. “It has been a pleasure to serve the community for the past 15 years and greatly appreciate the support our customers have shown during our time in Johnstown.”

Route 62 BBQ first opened in 2007.
