Star Columbus chef launching eclectic new Worthington eatery

Avishar Barua, known for his work as Service Bar Executive Chef as well as an appearance on the hit show “Top Chef” is launching his own restaurant, the standout chef told 614NOW.

Known as Joya’s Cafe, the new eatery–which Barua described as a “Contemporary Bengali-American Daytime Cafe”–will feature an eclectic menu that draws from Barua’s personal experience. It will be located at 657 High St. in Worthington.

“Instead of focusing on the classic caffeinated options (cappuccino, latte, frappuccino, mocha, cortado, americano etc.) I want to share some of my favorite caffeinated beverages from all travels,” a Worthington Building & Planning application from Joya’s reads.

The eatery will serve up a wide-reaching range of “Midwestern Craveables and street snacks” as well, like Chinese-American crepes, Impossible chili dogs, breakfast pho, bacon egg fried rice and much more.

Barua is listed as the owner of Joya’s on city documents.
