The Weekender: Decadent Dishes
You may wonder what constitutes a decadent dish. We all have our own slightly altered definitions but can agree that a decadent dish is indulgent and leaves us feeling satisfied, often with a slight tinge of guilt. This weekend, throw calories to the wind and satiate your appetite with one of my favorite decadent dishes. Choose to share with others or not; these dishes are so divine that no one will judge you for keeping them all to yourself.
Coastal to Local Seafood (formerly Costal Local Seafood) is always my first stop at North Market Bridge Park. Columbus’ go-to for fresh seafood and a quick bite, Coast to Local regularly adds quirky items like Lobster Poutine to their seafood repertoire. Recently unveiling their most decadent dish to date, Lobster Chips, Coastal continues to push indulgent boundaries. The unmatched Lobster Chips begin with a hefty layer of crisp kettle chips coated in house-made smoked cheddar cheese sauce, topped with colossal chunks of sweet lobster, and finished with fresh-cut herbs. The gooey smoked cheddar perfectly coats the salty chips and is beautifully balanced by the perfectly poached lobster. One word: irresistible.
Pelino’s Pasta delights me with their airy focaccia bread and fresh olive oil, imported from a 100-year-old olive grove in Italy. If this isn’t reason enough to head straight to Victorian Village, let me introduce you to their newest April pasta, Carbonara. This dish is true luxury: pasta, egg yolk, guanciale, and pecorino reggiano. Al dente bucatini is swirled in egg yolk and tossed in salty pecorino reggiano with crispy bits of smoky guanciale. You can taste the richness in each salty, smoky bite. This luxe dish is only here through this weekend, so go get it while you can.

The Yard Milkshake Bar just opened in the Short North and offers over-the-top milkshakes with an open-air dining area. I can safely say you could feed a family of four off just one milkshake. These calorie-filled milkshakes are unmatched in decadence and taste. The Brookie Batter starts with brownie batter and cookie dough ice cream drizzled in rich chocolate sauce then topped with fluffy whipped cream and a full-size chocolate chip cookie, dense brownie, and a heaping scoop of cookie dough. To finish it off, the lip of the mug used to served the shake is plastered with rich fudge and rolled in chocolate chips. Go ahead, treat yourself.
You deserve a yummy reward for making it through another week. These dishes are guaranteed to ramp up your tastebuds and prepare you to take on another Monday.
