Watch the (614) Media Group team try their hand at explosive science experiments

Dear Columbus,

I am definitely not a scientist.

But today, in honor of the COSI Science Festival and COSI’s takeover of the 614Now website, I tried my hand at some pretty scientific stuff.

Yes, there were explosions; and yes, I ended up covered in diet soda.

We’ve prepared a short video featuring yours truly performing an at-home elephant toothpaste experiment, paired with the classic Mentos-in-Diet-Coke experiment.

If I’m being frank, we wanted to see which one created the bigger explosion, since the annual COSI Science Festival is known in part for its slew of fun and often-explosive exhibits.

I could talk more about covalent bonds and oxygen atoms (you know, science stuff), but let’s just get to the explosions.
