Welcome to Eggfest, the unique grill-focused food festival that doubles as a cancer fundraiser

Get those eggs out, Columbus. Not the white ones from the supermarket, though, we want your green eggs. Your Big Green Eggs, to be specific.

Now in its eighth year, The Ohio Eggfest will return to Fortress Obetz on July 30 from 10:30 a.m. until 4 p.m. to hold a jam-packed food festival dedicated to the Big Green Egg.

For those not in the know, the Big Green Egg is a ceramic grill that resembles an egg due to its unique shape and green color. Lauded as one of the most complete and versatile grills on the market, the egg is capable of everything including grilling, smoking and barbecuing and more, and the Eggfest will highlight all of it.

Presented by Speciality Gas House, the festival serves as a massive cook-off between 36 different teams, all operating on a Big Green Egg. Each year, a Popular Vote Award and Very Prestigious Award are handed out at the end of the cook-off.

And while there will be plenty of great food to go around, Eggfest features more than just good eats. Live music from multiple bands will take place throughout the festival, and you’ll even be able to catch stand-up from the hugely-popular Dave Williamson, who also happens to be a barbecue pitmaster. On-site vendors will be present, and festival-goers will even be able to check out live cooking demos.

The best part: All proceeds from the event benefit to cancer research and treatment through donations to The James Cancer Hospital and The Buckeye Cruise for Cancer. Throughout its first seven years alone, The Ohio Eggfest has raised more than $250,000 to fight cancer.

Tickets can be purchased here for $30, or day-of for $35.
