Music event with giant, interactive hands, each the size of a house, coming to Columbus
Next month, the Columbus arts scene is set to receive a giant hand. Well, two of them actually.
The “multimedia art troupe” known as Squonk is bringing its unique brand of progressive rock to Columbus, alongside a pair of purple, house-sized hands as part of their traveling, interactive show known as “Hand to Hand.” You can watch video from a recent performance here.
The show will take place at COSI on May 6.

Self-described as “a journey that is spectacular, plaintive, and comic,” the show serves as part concert and part interactive art performance. As Sqonk plays, the hands—situated on either end of the stage—are controlled to move in step with the music.
As the show goes on, audience members are invited on stage to control individual fingers (activated by a cord attached to each one), creating a wild, and weirdly community-centered event.
“Hand to Hand,” which is free, was created in 2019.
