Hugely popular fried chicken chain adding Gahanna location
Hot Chicken Takeover is on a hot streak in central Ohio.
After being acquired by Untamed Brands in late 2021, the business–which began as a walk-up counter for Nashville-style hot chicken in Olde Towne almost nine years ago–has been adding new locations at an impressive clip.
The chicken chain opened a restaurant in the former home of Sweet Carrot in Grandview last December, and now, according to Untamed Brands CEO and founder Phil Petrilli, Hot Chicken Takeover is coming to Gahanna.

The brand hopes to open in Gahanna on their 9th birthday, April 9. The new eatery will be located at 109 N. Hamilton Rd., near Chipotle and Panera Bread.
“We just think it’s a fun way to celebrate our birthday, with Hot Chicken Takeover almost doubling in size in Central Ohio in just a short year and a few months,” Petrilli said.
If the estimated opening date is accurate, Hot Chicken Takeover will have opened three new locations in under six months.
Petrilli said the brand is working on multiple other new restaurants between Cleveland and the Columbus market as well.
Like other recent Hot Chicken Takeover additions, the Gahanna store plans to add an item that’s exclusive to that location only, according to Petrilli, but we’ll have to wait to find out what it is.
