Italian Village eatery announces reopening five months after tow truck crashes into building

It’s been a long stretch of time for the Italian Village ice cream shop S’wich Social, but after being struck by a tow truck in late October, the 4th Street spot is finally ready to reopen.

According to co-owner Addison Brown, S’wich will officially reopen on March 29.

“We’re very excited. We’ve had a lot of people reaching out, a lot of people trying to figure out when we’d be open again,” Brown said, “We’re just excited to open the doors again and get going.”

He said due to not only the damage caused by the crash (the building was affected structurally), but also the complex nature of the accident, S’Wich was forced to remain closed for a lengthy period of time.

“It was essentially a tow truck and a car both crashing into the building,” Brown said. “It’s been a combination of working through insurance, working with construction and working with the city to get approvals. Basically, this entire thing was all a learning experience for us.”
